I was born in The Bronx, New York, in 1967. I got the farming genes from my father's side and have
loved horses all my life. I have been riding since I was 11 years old. I joined United State Pony Club
as a teenager and achieved a C-2 rating. In my youth I showed at non-recognized hunter/jumper
shows and horse trials. In college, I joined the equestrian team and did a small amount
of intercollegiate showing. I was privileged to do a junior year abroad at Homerton College, the
teacher education college of University of Cambridge, and joined the Cambridge Riding Club.
I also took private lessons while I was in England. The summer before I went to England, I was a
trail guide.
My early educational experience is very urban. I attended C.E.S. 110 in The Bronx, New York,
P.S. 11 and J.H.S 125 in Queens, New York, and Stuyvesant High School in New York City.
Other than graduate school in New York City, I have been learning and working in rural and suburban
areas: Ithaca, New York; Cambridge, England, Doniphan County, Kansas; Lawrence, Kansas.
My credentials are BS in education from Cornell University: MS in special education from
Bank Street College of Education; certified special education teacher, Kansas; certified registered
therapeutic riding instructor, PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship);
level two certified Centered Riding instructor; reiki master; Equine Specialist in Mental Health
and Learning, PATH; ordained clergy member of the Church of Spiritual Humanism;
certified Brain Injury Specialist from the Brain Injury Association of America;
Transitional Living Specialist, Kansas.
